Visite d’Avignon pleine de « découvertes » (même pour un avignonnais comme moi…) et d’anecdotes inédites. Précis et complet sans être « soporifique », une bonne touche d’humour en « sus »…
Bref passionnant !!!!

Villeneuve les AvignonClement is a fantastic historian and story teller that will keep you engage throughout the tour. Our family, 2 Canadian adults and 2 British adults, with 2 teenage boys requested a walking tour of Avignon and the opportunity to do something more fun and physical for the boys. We ended up with the perfect day in Avignon…. 2 hour walking tour, a very relaxing lunch, finishing the day with a friendly game of Pétanque(similar to Boules). We did this tour on our first day in Avignon. The history that we learned from Clement, helped link together Avignon to the other tour we did on our own to the Palais du Pape, Le Jardin and Pont D’Avignon.
We meet Clement at 10:00am near the Indigo Parking Jean Jaurès. The location allowed for us to park underground in a very clean, easy to get to location for less than 15 Euros for the day. Clement met us smiling and clearly excited to tell us about Avignon and it’s history. The 2 hour tour was the perfect amount of time, to not only learn, but actually absorb the history that Clement shares. Clement also has a few surprises and funny/interesting bits that you won’t learn otherwise. The side bonus of this tour is that you will be more familiar with the streets of the city and where to eat, when you are on your own. So again….put it first on your itinerary.
Around noon, we left Clement and walked to a wonderful Café for lunch as recommended by Clement. Lunch in Avignon generally consists of a “plat du jour” with a entree, main and dessert or a la carte. Take the time to have an apéritif, such as a traditional Pastis or Kir before ordering lunch and do as the French do….enjoy the atmosphere, conversation and food.
Clement caught up with us around 3:00pm and we headed to the outer wall of the city, which is a great location to learn and play Pétanque. Clement brought his grandfathers Pétanque balls, so you understand the passion and history the family has for the game. After a basic lesson and a few warm up throws, we divided into two teams of three, with Clement as coach and referee. There were a lot of laughs and groans as we learned a game that looks simple, but is not easy to play at all!!
Clement wrapped up the day with another surprise that we all enjoyed and can only enjoy in the south of France. Clement can cater to whatever type of tour you would like, however for a short stay in Avignon this would be my vote to anyone looking to really enjoy a day of history and fun.
